The Walk

Close to the village of Stonehaugh, this marked trail takes you from the Warksburn picnic site, along the Grindstone Sike and into the Wark Forest. This is an easy going and relatively flat walk. Wark Forest, part of Kielder Forest, is well off the tourist route. The trail I have chosen is the longer of two. The shorter route is only about 750m or half a mile. This is a marked trail so there is little point in going into too much detail.

The path starts by taking you along the bank of the Grindstone Sike. You then take a right from the stream and then venture into the woods. Eventually, you will see the edge of the woods and a Forestry Commission road. You will walk parallel to this. A short and steady climb will eventually take you to a point where you over look the car park.
