The Walk

Park at the Bull Crag Peninsula picnic area. The car park is adjacent to the Lakeside way, a well prepared multi-user trail. Bear to the right onto the Lakeside Way, with Whickhope Anchorage and Kielder Water on you left. Follow the Lakeside Way. You will come to a junction where the Lakeside Way bears left, through some trees, and descends to the lake level. Do not take the Lakeside Way at this point and take the forest access track straight on.

This track will take you to the access road. Turn right onto the access road and follow this for about 1Km until you get to the Otterstone View Point sign. Go straight on at this junction and up the hill to the Otterstone Viewpoint Car Park. Turn left into the car park. You will see a path at the other side of the car park between the dry stone wall and the trees. Take this path. Go through the kissing gate and onto the access land. Follow the trodden path down to the Lakeside Way. Take time to stop at the Jubilee Planting area. The bench gives you great views of Kielder Water.

Turn right when on the Lakeside Way. Follow this round to the disused road which you will take. The other end of this road leads back onto the Lakeside Way. It is just a case of following the Lakeside Way back to the Bull Crag Picnic area car park.
